A NEW SILVER LINING

Hey, this might be the answer we've all been hoping for. 

Our country's been through a lot in recent times.... 

But there's something happening right now that could be a silver lining behind all these clouds. 

Surely you've seen the stories lately about businesses and governments changing to 4-day workweeks as a means of saving money. 

Utah, for one, just made the official changeover. 

Roughly 18,000 Utah state employees will now work Monday through Thursday -- 10 hours each day -- saving the state untold millions in energy costs alone.

 

It's all connected to a new reality -- created totally by the exploding cost of fuel. 

And in our hearts... like it or not... we all know the unhappy truth.... the cost of fossil fuel will never go back to where it was.... never.... period!  So something's got to change. 

That's why I applaud the move to a 4-day workweek. 

The number of hours worked will remain basically the same.It's just a new way of spreading the hours...A new way of thinking. 

Actually, we should consider it more than just a 4-day workweek...We should rejoice in shifting our society to a 3-day weekend! 

And, of course -- by law -- this should include television news anchors. 

It should definitely apply to all schools and universities.  When the kids go back this fall, they'd attend classes Monday through Thursday, with three days off. 

Think of the fuel savings in the U.S. by having all the school buses parked for an extra day. 

No long lines of parents creeping along in their SUVs, bringing and picking up their children. 

Make no mistake... fuel costs are the problem.... and, not only would those gas-devouring vehicles be parked, the lights in those schools and businesses would be switched off for one extra day. 

And just imagine how much fun you could have with longer weekends. 

You could go for nice long strolls with your family or friends.... 

Or, how about leisurely days on the golf course? 

You could gather the family together... pack them in the car... and take off... to parts.. unknown... uhh... oh wait... I forgot...
