NOW THAT THE OSCARS IS OVER

BY DAN MILLER
March 6, 2006

100_0619_2I know what you're thinking.... shouldn't that be, "the Oscars ARE over?"

Well, I don't know.
I was referring to the Oscars as a singular event, and perhaps I should have written, "Now that the Oscar Show is over".... then there'd be no question.

Usually when a word ends in "s" we treat it as the plural, but not always.

For example, we don't say, "now that the news ARE over".... we say "the news IS over".

On the other hand, we say "now that my shirt IS on", while at the same time saying "now that my pants ARE on."

These are things that should be discussed by more advanced thinkers than me.
(Or, should that be "more advanced thinkers than I...?")

Anyhow, the Oscar winners have been announced.

For those interested in the Dan versus Demetria Oscar picking contest (and that's pretty much limited to Demetria and me).... here are the results:

For the second straight year, Demetria (the film expert) has been humbled by Dan (the non-film expert).

I won't make a lot of noise about this but, Demetria picked only 2 out of 6 correctly, while Dan (that's me) PICKED 5 OUT OF 6 RIGHT ON THE MONEY!!!!

How does I do it year after year?
