MUSIC TO MY EARS

100_1977Here comes another grandchild story.

Our new weekend anchor Tom Randles is not only a first rate journalist, he's also a professional jazz guitarist, with several CDs to his credit.

He gave me a copy of his CD "Starting from Scratch", which I've been playing in my car.

When my 19-month old granddaughter Elouise was visiting from Germany, I decided to take her for a ride with me to the store.... just the two of us.

Well, before we got a half mile down the road, she was getting fussy and calling for her Mommy....
So I did what came naturally.... I started some music, and that just happened to be Tom's CD, which was already in the CD player.
Elouise immediately stopped fussing, and seemed for all the world to be groovin' on the smooth sounds of progressive jazz.

Wow.... Tom's music has a soothing effect on kids, I figured.
Then.... suddenly.... she started singing.
Could it be? Could she that quickly compose lyrics for Tom's instrumental?

Then I recognized the familiar lyrics.
"Old MacDonald had a farm, EE - I - EE - I - OH....."

If Tom ever needs a vocalist, I've found one that sounds good to me.
