LAW & ORDER: ON AND ON

BY DAN MILLER
May 4, 2006

Loseason15castNBC's enormously popular series Law & Order is already the second longest running dramatic series in the history of television.

Later this year, it will start its 17th season.

One reason for its fanatical following -- almost every episode is self-contained.... no waiting around until next week to see the conclusion.

There have already been several spin-offs under the Law & Order brand:
LAW & ORDER: SVU
LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT
LAW & ORDER: TRIAL BY JURY
LAW & ORDER: CRIME AND PUNISHMENT
CONVICTION (the latest spin-off)

With NBC desperately looking for more winning shows, I have a suggestion.... just keep expanding the Law & Order dynasty.

Actually, the first suggestion for a new spin-off comes from Sean Laflin, who runs our newsroom feed station (and no, the feed station is not where staff members get food.... it's where all incoming and outgoing satellite and microwave signals are handled).

Sean suggested LAW & ORDER: MAILROOM

Brilliant!
There must be thousands of versions that would ensure years of ongoing success with the Law & Order franchise.

Some others that have been suggested:

LAW & ORDER: ROWDY TEENAGE PARTIES
LAW & ORDER: SPEED TRAP
LAW & ORDER: HIGHWAY PROFILING OF PEOPLE NOT FROM AROUND HERE
LAW & ORDER: OPEN CONTAINER
LAW & ORDER: CROSSING GUARD
LAW & ORDER: TASER
LAW & ORDER: POLICE VEHICLE SERVICE GARAGE
LAW & ORDER: TOW-IN LOT
LAW & ORDER: OVERLAPPING JURISDICTION
LAW & ORDER: PERSONS OF INTEREST
LAW & ORDER: COMMISSARY
LAW & ORDER: DEADBEAT DADS
LAW & ORDER: ROUTINE TRAFFIC STOP
LAW & ORDER: PARKING METER VIOLATION
LAW & ORDER: OUTSTANDING WARRANT
LAW & ORDER: UNDERCOVER STING
LAW & ORDER: EXPIRED TEMPORARY TAG
LAW & ORDER: DASHBOARD VIDEO
LAW & ORDER: REASONABLE SUSPICION
LAW & ORDER: OFF DUTY
LAW & ORDER: DISORDERLY CONDUCT
LAW & ORDER: STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS
LAW & ORDER: ANCILLARY RELIEF
LAW & ORDER: MALICIOUS FALSEHOOD
LAW & ORDER: SUSPECTS
LAW & ORDER: THE SUMMONS

Wait, I just thought of three more....

LAW & ORDER: RADAR GUN
LAW & ORDER: SIR, DO YOU KNOW WHY I PULLED YOU OVER?
LAW & ORDER: SIR, DO YOU KNOW THE SPEED LIMIT HERE ON KNOB ROAD?

So many potential titles.
This franchise could go on forever.
