OSCAR POST SCRIPT

And the winner of the big Oscar picking contest between Demetria and me is........

Me.

That's right, out of the six categories we chose from, Demetria (the film producer) got 3 correct, while I - the novice - picked 4 winners.

As for the Academy Awards, at least there was something magical about this year's telecast of the show.

Through the magic of Hollywood special effects, the show appeared to last for 12 hours, while in real time it was only 3 hours and 15 minutes...... (or was it the magic of boredom?)

Maybe I'm just so weary of so many awards shows, for so many artistic achievements, that I'm having trouble keeping up with the excitement and expectations.
But by any standard I can think of, this was a snoozer.

I had really expected a brilliant young comic like Chris Rock to add a whole new level of energy and spontaneity, but that just didn't happen. To me, Chris appeared out of his comfort zone and never seemed to connect with the audience.

And while Beyonce is a fine young talent..... was there a shortage of female singers Sunday night?

As for the highlights, I just can't think of many.
When Jamie Foxx talked about his grandmother being his first acting teacher, that was touching.

And it was nice that 74-year old Clint Eastwood's mother was there attending the show. She's 96.
Beyond that, I can't think of anything that moved me, or really entertained me.

I probably should have gone to a good movie instead.
